We are looking for people to lifeshare as part of a household with people with special needs, and we welcome applications from single people or couples, prepared to join us as enthusiastic and responsible co-workers, with an interest in Camphill life and preferably some experience in community living, although this is not essential. The house communities are at the heart of life at The Bridge. We need people who can help us carry the responsibility and consciousness of our community and to participate in all aspects of our daily life, working as part of a wider team with our dedicated employees, volunteers, younger residential volunteers and social care professionals.



English language is key requirement. Full induction and training into the role will be provided as well as mandatory external training. Reflective supervision is provided on a one to one basis at regular intervals.

Social Care House-Coordinator

Social Care House Coordinator 
 (30-35 hours per week)

Job Description:

To manage and support the smooth running of a household for adults with special needs and co-workers in an intentional community by leading a team of volunteers in creating a positive living experience and an environment and atmosphere within the home in which the needs of people can be met. This role will involve:

  • Inducting volunteers in the practical aspects of their roles and coaching / modeling desired ways of working on an ongoing basis.
  • Creatively supporting people to develop and pursue their aims & goals and engage in their leisure interests as well as coaching and leading volunteers in appropriate ways to support people to achieve the same
  • Overseeing and supervising supports in individuals personal and intimate care and ensuring that they are provided to the highest standard in a person centered approach
  • creating a warm, homely and inviting home both atmosphere and appearance, conducive to the development of adults with special needs
  • Ensuring that all issues in relation to health & safety, food, nutrition, cleanliness & hygiene, record keeping, keeping of proper accounts and compliance with Camphill’s policies and procedures are met to the highest standards at all times
  • Engaging constructively with the management Group and communicate any issues or concerns proactively.

At the Bridge Community we always welcome new volunteers to join our dynamic team of volunteers. There are many ways in which people can volunteer in our community and many different areas, some of which are:

  • House Workshop
  • Garden Workshop
  • Farm Workshop

If you have a spare few hours a week and would like to become involved in some way in our community do come in and chat to Ben Gamble who will be happy to discuss with you.

Volunteers for our Activities & Interests Programme and Befriending Programme

Day-Volunteer

-Do you have some time on your hands? -Would you like to make a contribution to a worthwhile cause? -Have you a sense of fun and are up to trying new things? If so we would like to hear from you. Our Activities & Interests Programme makes art, music, craft, literacy, sports, drama, dance, IT Skills and other topics accessible to people of all abilities in an informal and fun way. It is run with coworkers of the Bridge Community and the help of local volunteers who contribute their interest, knowledge, skill and enthusiasm in whatever way they can. If you think you might be able to contribute to a group of all abilities in one of these areas we would love to hear from you. We are looking for volunteers able to commit to Monday mornings from 9.30-12.30 for 2-3 months We are also looking for Volunteers for our Befriending Programme for a couple of hours a week in the evenings or at weekends, assisting with outings to museums, cultural centres, concerts, walking, playing cards, paired reading, going to the movies etc. We will try and pair you with someone with compatible interests.

Social Worker (CORU-Registered)

This is an attractive position with manageable case load of 17 residents & 10 day attendees. The role will balance daily direct contact with people, dealing with safeguarding concerns, facilitating reviews and managing person’s files & documentation

Job Description:

The Social Worker at the Bridge Community will have an important role in guiding & facilitating responsive, individualised & solution focused approaches to support people with special needs and their families.  This will involve engaging directly with residents & day attendees, helping to guide life choices and identify aims & goals, finding creative solutions to overcoming barriers and facilitating people in finding their own solutions.  The person filling this role will need to be aware of best practice & current trends in the area of social care.  As part of the team, they will take co-responsibility for the area of personal planning, annual reviews and developing & maintaining needs- & risk- assessments as well as supporting social care staff in their roles. The Social Worker will be dealing with Complaints and Safeguarding concerns, and become one of the Designated Officers (DO) for the community. The person will support the intentional community, in developing and formalising a person centred culture and to achieve a high quality of personal outcomes in a time of rapidly changing regulatory requirements, while maintaining its ethos and values.

The role will involve:

  • Admissions to the community
  • Facilitating Annual Reviews
  • Conducting Needs Assessments
  • Risk assessments and Enabling Plans 
  • Behavioural Support Plans
  • Engaging with Multidisciplinary Supports and other Professionals
  • Safeguarding - Acting in the role of designated officer

Key Attributes and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualification/ third level degree in Social Work
  • Registered as qualified social worker with CORU
  • At least 2 years recent experience working as a Social Worker
  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults/ children
  • Experience in positive behavioural supports including behaviour support plans.
  • Proven ability to manage & prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
