KCAT - Courses

KCAT runs a full-time and part-time Art and course for people with and without special needs. It is taught in such a way that every student can work at his or her own level with the emphasis being on the artistic and personal development of each student. No previous experience is required to participate and the courses are also suitable for people with previousartwork experience. Students are guided both as a group and individually. KCAT tutors are all professional working artists.

Students are given the opportunity to work towards a FETAC 5 award, covering the following modules: Drawing Communications Painting Photography Sculpture Combined Materials Printmaking Work Experience.

FETAC Level 5 Theatre Performance Course, has been up and running since September 2005. Year one of the course saw eight students, with little or no theatre experience, develop acting skills, grow in confidence, and perform to growing audiences. The course is currently in its third year. The challenge of this drama course is to create a safe space that is not restrictive. Here, one has permission to regain childhood and 'lost' things such as imaginings, dreams and hopes. With hard work, hard play, dedication, discipline and willingness to at least try to let go; the students on this uniquely mixed ability performance course spend time in a place where there are no wrong answers, and no entirely right ones either.

One Day Art Course: a fine art course has started on Mondays in the new academic year with 20 new students Open Studio for participants with a range of abilities.
