Greenacres - House - Hazel

Here you can meet the people who live in Greenacres Community. To begin with, let us introduce the people who live in Hazel house

marcos

Hello, I am Marcos, I am a Brazilian guy who enjoys trying out new things and helping people. I come from a beautiful place in Brazil, where we have nice beaches and good music, which is one of the things I like most! Music! I play drums and I used to have a band in Brazil.

I came to Ireland last year with my partner Marcia, first we lived in Duffcarrig, a farm-community in Gorey, than this year we moved to Greenacres, and it is very nice, because we have had a good experience in a farm community and now we are living in a city community!

We all live in Hazel house, and that is a very important moment because I am just about to become a father, so I can say that this couple of years have been a great time to learn new things and living in a Camphill community is a very special way to grow up, because you are always supported by friends.

marcia

Hi I am Marcia, I come from a really nice place in Brazil where we have lots of water falls and not far from us we have nice beaches, all about 2 hours from São Paulo city! I graduated in Journalism, and I worked for a political newsletter before I came to Ireland.

Myself and my partner Marcos came to Ireland last year to join Camphill, first we were in Duffcarrig - a very nice community in Gorey, Wexford, than since March this year we have been living in Greenacres. We live at Hazel house with Siobhan Mc, Siobhan H and Shane.. and soon we will have a new resident once our baby arrives in October. It is very exciting!

Life in a community is a very special experience, everyone can learn much about themselves and have a chance to develop some hidden skills! Sometimes it is a challenge , but what is the life without challenges? So I really find it is a nice place to live, and that is why I have chosen have my family here.

davi

Hi! My name is Davi (Marcos and Marcia's son), I was born on 15th October 2010. I think I am a very lucky baby because I was the first baby born in Greenacres, and it is very nice, everybody loves me here, and I really like them! I love play with my toys, do baby yoga and try out new food and tastes, being a baby is just wonderfull, specially with nice people around!

siobhan mc

I am Siobhan MacCalion , I grew up in Dundalk , where my family lives now.
My family is very nice, I have 2 brothers and one sister, one of my brothers is married and has a little boy named Hugh, so I have a nephew!
I like to do different things, but the nicest things for me are do some arts like oil painting, art pastel and calligraphy ; go for walks, my favorite place is Marley Park; watching movies, musical and family ones, the best I have ever seen was MEET ME AT ST LOUIS . I like to listen to music, my favorite singer is CLIFF RICHARD.

Some times I enjoy to cook on weekends, specially to cook my favourite dishes, which are pasta or lasagna, but I can`t do it so often because I work at the weekend at Airfield in a café (it is really nice), and I also work at Domain for the last 3 years. It is a very dynamic life! In my summer break I normally go home to spend some time with my family, some times we travel to somewhere out of Ireland, which we also do with the community. I have been for holidays in several places, like Lanzarotte, Croatia, Gran Canarias and a few places in Ireland.

Before I came to Greenacres I lived in the Ballybay community, then I moved to Greenacres in 2005. I was the first one to arrive here. When the others arrived to join this community we moved to a small road called Hazel, where I lived at first with Shane Nolan, Julie and another co-worker, since then we have had a few changes. Now I live in Hazel with Marcia, Marcos, Shane and Siobhan Humphries, and I am quite happy about that.
For my future I have planned to do some training in cooking or finding a new type of work.

shane

My name is Shane Nolan. I was born on the 10 of January 1973, my parents are Betty Finntery and JP Nolan. I have two siblings, Ashling (my sister) was born on the same day as me but 1 year before me. Paul my only brother was born on the 20 of October 1981. Birthdays were fun growing up when we invited our friends.
We as a family moved to 2 different towns, a few times back and forward between Kilcullen and Newbridge. We all attended the same school at St Bridget's school in Kilcullen. When I was 11 I changed school for one called St Marks, there I played on the school football team, goalkeeper was my position not only for the school team but for the other teams I played for.
When I was 18 I moved to a Camphill called Dunshane, I worked there five days a week in the garden looking after the vegetables in the garden. I met many co workers from different countries when I was there throughout the 3 years .Then some longtime workers in Dunshane came up with the idea to start up a Camphill in Kilcullen to be called "The Bridge" because it was near to a bridge, the building had been a laundry . The field over the coming years would become what it is now. In 1994 I joined The Bridge community and stayed until 2005, while I was there I did many things. I lived in Gormanstown for 5 and a half years 2 years in Issiern house learning to cook, bake and clean. Also doing drama, especially when a play was performed in the Town Hall.
After that I saw a place advertised for Camphill Greenacres .I thought of going there but it took me years to decide that Greenacres was the place for me where new opportunities would come. Some people were shocked when I told them because they felt Camphill Dingle was where I would end up. There was a party held for me when I was leaving, to say goodbye to The Bridge people. Since 2005, I have lived in Greenacres, and I am glad because here I met my partner Siobhan Humphries and next year she and I will be married. I work in a scheme called Fas, and I live in Hazel house. I play in the Dundrum football team, in the evenings I go to different activities as line dancing, bowling and some outings with friends.
My wish for the future is to get part time work in either gardening, horses or another work area that I like. I also would love to live in a flat with my partner Siobhan where confidence can build up and where we can learn to put our opinions across without getting nervous.

siobhan h

My name is Siobhan Humphreys. I was born on the 19th March, and I am 39 years old, my parents names are Jim and Sheila Humphreys. In my family I also have a brother named Michael who has a wife named Catherine Humphreys and they have children named Grace and Mike Humphreys.
I have taken part in a few few training courses. One place was Park House which involved gardening and dealing with customers. In Happy Valley I was dealing with horses and learning all about them, as how to feed, clean and look after them.Another location I trained in was Spruce Lodge which involved working with horses, dog training, maintenance, gardening, pottery and cooking. I also did some training in Festina Lente, as a gardener. Then in Dragon Hold I trained with more horses.
A few years ago I moved into Greenacres. Here I lived with different people . The first Greenacres was a big house with lots of land around it.There I got to do mosaics, weavery, also gardening with everyone and did art and felting.
After sometime we had to move from the old Greenacres, and at first I did not like the thought of leaving there, but it was ok, first I lived with Silja in a flat, and then I moved to Dale house, and then to Hazel house where I live now with Shane,Siobhan Mc, Marcos and Marcia.
Now a have a quite dynamic life, I have hobbies and activities which I do during the week like swimming, line dancing, riding my bike, socialising with Shane and my friends.
For my future plans I would love to get a place to live with Shane (once we are married next year)Also I would like to develop myself doing some gardening training and specially getting a job in this field.
