We are interested to hear from enthusiastic young men and women who would like to spend a year sharing our community life in a small town near Kilkenny. Starting date is flexible April/May. Volunteers will join a house community supporting adults with a variey of needs. Some of those we support have high needs, including physical / intimate care and constant supervision. Others live in their own accommondation and need friends visiting regularly to support them as they manage their own lives. Our life is challenging for all, and very rewarding for those who engage and participate fully. Good English is essential, and it helps if you bring energy, initiative and humour! In your application, please answer these two additional questions: 1: when are you free to start? 2: how long do you wish to stay?



Basic training and induction will be provided good English is essential

Social Care Worker

Employed

Minimum Age 21

Duration Permanent Contract

Some of our residents live in their own apartments, with helpers coming in providing full one-to one support  in their daily needs.  The purpose of this role is to join the team around one female resident, assisting in personal care, supporting social activity, providing emotional security and promoting her inclusion in the community.

 30 hours per week + one overnight - evening and weekend hours will be required.

Desirable - experience with challenging behaviour,  familiarity with relevant regulations and an interest in exploring new models of Social Care.

Essential -  experience with intellectual disability, Social Care qualification minimum QQI 5, full driving licence.
