Ballytobin - Volunteering

We welcome and depend on the work of volunteer co-workers in Ballytobin. Many of our volunteers come for a year or two, while others stay for many years and raise families in Ballytobin. Our volunteers are an international and diverse group. Volunteers are generally asked to commit to at least one year in Ballytobin. Responsibilities of volunteer co-workers may include care and support for disabled children or adults, assisting in the classroom or in craft workshops, or working with other adults on the land or in the houses. Additionally, all co-workers are invited to join in the cultural and social life of the community, including joining in the celebration of festivals and participating in our meeting and cultural life. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, and have a good proficiency in understanding and speaking English. An Induction and Introductory Course are provided, as is a Certificate Course for those who would like to take their course a little further.

We also offer some places for volunteers who wish to only join us for 4-5 weeks during the summer when we need extra help in the garden and on the farm. Those volunteers will not be involved in the care of our children and adults, but they will be part of the community and of a house community and get an experience of community life.
