Short-term volunteer, social care worker

We are offering one placement for a motivated young woman who wishes to experience our life-sharing community spread over a small seaside village. You will join one of our three small house communities, where you share responsibilities with two other volunteers from many different countries. Each household is guided by house-coordinators and offers a home to up to three residents with disabilities. Camphill Ballymoney operates a small garden,a basket-workshop, a felt workshop and a small coffee-shop all of which have vacancies arising in the near future. Good English is essential, craft skills are welcome but full training will be given. Sign language is part of our ongoing training. Preference is given to those who can commit for the full year and who are 21 years or over.

Person in Charge/Social Care coordinator

Camphill Ballymoney is a diverse social community that provides residential and day service support for 13 adults with an intellectual disability. We are seeking applications from energetic and enthusiastic individuals to join our community as a Person in Charge (PIC)

As a PIC you will be:

  • Co-responsible for the management of, and continued development of a range of quality, resident focused and cost effective residential services for people with intellectual disabilities at Camphill community Ballymoney.
  • Working with residents and co-workers to develop and plan all aspects of the service that promote quality for both services users and meeting Health Information & Quality Authority standards.
  • Providing leadership and line management to those working for the community and ensuring the community operates effectively and sustainably, creating an inspiring model of social enterprise and community building where each individual achieves their full potential.
  • To uphold Camphill’s ethos and values in the role and day to day management of the community.

All applicants will need to have:

  1. A minimum of NFQ/QQI level 7 qualification in social care or similar?
  2. At least 3 years of senior management experience at a similar level of responsibility including demonstrative experience in strategic planning
  3. At least 5 years experience in the health/social care or voluntary sector?
  4. Have experience of working with adults with an intellectual disability.(min 3 years)

We are offering a placement for one young man, who wishes to experience our life-sharing community spread over a small seaside village. Your home will be one of our three small houseswhere you share responsibilities with two other volunteers from many different countries. Each household is guided by house-coordinators.  As a member of a team you will support two persons with varying levels of independence.

Camphill Ballymoney operates a small garden, a basket-workshop, a textile workshop and a small coffee-shop all of which have vacancies arising in the near future. Good English is essential, craft skills are welcome but full training will be given. Sign language is part of our ongoing training. Preference is given to those who can commit for the full year and who are 21 years or over.



You will learn to use sign language to communicate with others.

We are offering one placement for an INTERESTED YOUNG MAN, who wishes to experience our life-sharing community spread over a small seaside village.

You will join one of our three small house communities, where you share responsibilities with two other volunteers from many different countries. Each household is guided by house-coordinators and offers a home to up to three residents with disabilities. Your particular task will be to support and befriend a resident with Down Syndrome.

Camphill Ballymoney operates a small garden, a basket-workshop, a textile workshop and a small coffee-shop all of which have vacancies arising in the near future.

Good English is essential, craft skills are welcome but full training will be given. Sign language is part of our ongoing training. Preference is given to those who can commit for the full year and who are 21 years or over.

homemaker

We are offering the position of homemaker in our smallest household. If you enjoy to provide an inviting and ordered home to a a small team of co-workers and one or two persons with disabilities, this is your place.

Your home in the  beautiful seaside location of Camphill Ballymoney adjacent to our sunny vegetable garden and our community room, so it can be a lively household for parts of the day.

You will receive thorough induction training in this role; furhter training in disability studies can be offered.                                                             This is a live-in position and you will be supported in your task by an employed housecoordinator.                                                                            Together you and the volunteer care supporters in the house will support a woman with a disability in her independent living unit in the house in all her every day needs.

Once fully inducted you will become co-responsible for the overall running of the household and will be tasked to introduce a new resident to our vibrant little community.  



Prior experience in the area of disabilities a must. Training appreciated. We prefer applicants, who are willing to become a driver for the community.

Are you a sociable and responsible person looking for an opportunity to meet others? We are offering a vacancy for one motivated person to volunteer in our craft and coffee-shop. You should be friendly and outgoing and able to work under instruction as part of a local and international team. The coffee-shop is part of Camphill Community Ballymoney. All personnel are linked to the ethos of the community and are happy to inform customers about Camphill by selling crafts produced in the Irish communities. An interest in health-foods and local initiatives is welcome.



Prior experience in coffee-shops is welcome, but barrista training will be given.

Day-Volunteer

Duration Minimum 1 year

Are you interested in learning a textile craft? We are offering a vacancy for one motivated person to volunteer in our textile work-shop. You should be committed to learning how to felt and weave and be sociable and able to work under instruction as part of a team with very mixed abilities. The textile work-shop is part of Camphill Community Ballymoney. It aims to use locally sourced wool and other materials to produce a variety of items for the local market and on order.



None, but interest in persons with disabilities. Training in weaving and felt-making will be given.
